"I had five doctors working as beta readers... I had all this access to medical research. My patient advocate was working on a PhD through the South Carolina Medical College. Another person I was working with had disease modeling and outbreak software where I could give her demographic data... and she would give me, like, 'Okay, well, then what's the spread? What's the onset of disease?' And we would run disease modeling through there until I finally got the disease dynamics down to enable the climax of that story."
